Malta’s event calendar continues beyond the height of summer, and this October one of the island’s biggest dance music weekends returns. Defected Malta 2026 takes place from 1 to 4 October, bringing more than 50 artists, open-air performances, pool parties and boat parties to venues across the island. For guests staying at Palazzo Violetta in Sliema, the festival offers the chance to combine a Mediterranean break with four days of house music.

Four Days of House Music

Now returning for its fifth edition, Defected Malta begins with a pre-party at Café Del Mar on Thursday 1 October before the main festival programme continues throughout the weekend.

The 2026 line-up brings together established names and rising artists from across the house music scene, including Sam Divine, Green Velvet, Dennis Ferrer, HoneyLuv, Hannah Wants, Eats Everything, Nic Fanciulli and Hot Since 82, alongside many more performers.

From Poolside Sets to Open-Air Nights

Part of what makes Defected Malta different is the variety of settings used throughout the weekend. Events take place at Café Del Mar, with its Mediterranean backdrop, the open-air UNO Malta complex and The Ditch in Valletta, while additional boat parties take the music out onto the water.

Festival days move between daytime sessions beside the sea and late-night performances, allowing visitors to experience different parts of Malta while following the programme.

Stay in Sliema During Defected Malta

Sliema provides a convenient base for visitors travelling to Malta for the festival. From Palazzo Violetta, guests are close to restaurants, cafés and the waterfront, while Valletta can be reached easily across Marsamxett Harbour.

Staying in Sliema also gives festival-goers the chance to enjoy a different pace between events. A morning walk along the promenade, lunch beside the sea or a quieter afternoon at the hotel can provide a welcome contrast before heading back out for another evening of music.

Make More of an October Stay

October is a particularly pleasant time to visit Malta. The intense peak of summer has passed, yet the island still offers the Mediterranean atmosphere that makes outdoor events and days by the coast so appealing.

Visitors travelling for Defected can also use their stay to explore Valletta, Mdina and the Three Cities, spend time around Sliema and St Julian’s, or simply enjoy a slower day by the water before the next festival event.

Music, Malta and a Stay at Palazzo Violetta

Defected Malta brings together international house music and some of the island’s most distinctive settings, making it much more than a traditional weekend festival.

With Palazzo Violetta as a base in Sliema, guests can enjoy the energy of Defected while still having the freedom to experience Malta beyond the dancefloor — from waterfront mornings and historic cities to relaxed moments back at the hotel.
